Know your purpose

Today, we're diving into a topic that resonates with all of us: discovering our purpose. Inspired by a recent sermon series called "Wild Horses," we're exploring what it means to be trained, not tamed, and how to uncover the unique purpose God has for each of us. Let's face it—many of us have a bit of a wild streak. We might feel like untamed horses, full of energy and potential but unsure of where to direct it. The good news? God isn't looking to tame us; He's looking to train us. And one of the steps in that training is understanding our purpose.

**Known by God **

Imagine this: before you were even born, God knew you. He knew your quirks, your strengths, and even your struggles. Jeremiah 1:5 tells us, "Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you." This isn't just a poetic sentiment; it's a profound truth. You are not an accident. You were created on purpose, for a purpose.

For those of us exploring faith, this might be a new concept. The idea that a divine Creator knows us intimately can be both comforting and challenging. It invites us to consider that our lives have meaning beyond what we can see.

Called by God

Once we grasp that we're known by God, the next step is recognizing that we're called by Him. Ephesians 2:10 says, "For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." This means that each of us has a unique role to play in the grand story God is writing.

But let's be real—figuring out what we're called to do can be daunting. We might feel too young, too inexperienced, or simply unsure. Yet, the Bible is full of stories of young people like Jeremiah, David, and Mary, who stepped into their calling despite their fears.

**Finding Your Sweet Spot **

So, how do we discover our purpose? Picture a Venn diagram with three circles: Passions, Giftings, and God Opportunities. Where these circles intersect is your "sweet spot"—the place where you can thrive and make a difference.

  • Passions: What activities make you feel alive? What issues stir your heart? - Giftings: What are you naturally good at? What skills have you developed? - God Opportunities: Where do you see doors opening? What needs can you meet?

By exploring these areas, we can begin to see where God might be leading us. And remember, it's okay if this process takes time. Purpose is a journey, not a destination.

So, whether you're a wild horse ready to run or someone just starting to explore the possibilities, know that you are known, called, and loved by God. Embrace your purpose and let your unique light shine in the world.
