Believe…He Is Worthy of Worship
What has your heart?
It's a simple question, but an important one.
The things we value most shape our decisions, influence our priorities, and determine where we spend our time, energy, and attention.
In John 12, Mary demonstrates what true worship looks like.
She takes an expensive jar of perfume worth nearly a year's wages and pours it out on Jesus.
It wasn't a small gift.
It wasn't leftover.
It wasn't convenient.It was costly.
Mary believed Jesus was worthy of her best.
Not everyone agreed.
Judas immediately questioned her decision. He sounded practical. Responsible. Even spiritual.
But John reveals the real issue wasn't money.
It was his heart.
Mary saw worship as surrender.
Judas saw worship as a loss.
The contrast forces us to ask an important question:
What are we truly worshipping?
Sometimes worship isn't revealed by what we say. It's revealed by what receives our attention.
We can easily devote ourselves to:
success
comfort
relationships
achievement
entertainment
None of those things are inherently bad, but they become dangerous when they take the place only Jesus should occupy.
Mary understood something many people miss.
The moment mattered.
She didn't wait until later.
She didn't delay obedience.
She didn't calculate the cost.She worshipped Jesus now.
That's the invitation for us as well.
Jesus isn't looking for leftovers.
He's worthy of our best, our hearts, and our surrender.
Because when we truly believe who Jesus is, worship becomes our natural response.
