In God We Trust: Satisfied

In God We Trust: Week 3: Satisfied

Everyone is hungry for something-acceptance, purpose, peace, hope, love, meaning. The problem is we often try to satisfy eternal hunger with temporary things.

In John 6, Jesus declares that He is the Bread of Life, the only One who can truly satisfy the soul. This week, we’ll discover what it means to stop chasing temporary fulfillment and find lasting satisfaction in Jesus.

    “Why Nothing Else Fully Satisfies”

We live in a world constantly searching for satisfaction.

    People are hungry for:

    • Acceptance

    • Purpose

    • Peace

    • Hope

    • Love

    • Security

    • Meaning

And most people spend their lives trying to satisfy eternal hunger with temporary things.

    More money.
    More success.
    More attention.
    More relationships.
    More experiences.
    More validation.

    But eventually the hunger returns.

In John 6, Jesus confronts a crowd that is chasing Him-not because they want Him, but because they want what He can give them.

    They wanted more bread.

But Jesus wanted to give them something deeper.

Temporary Things Can’t Fill Eternal Longing

The crowd remembered how God fed Israel in the wilderness with manna from heaven. Bread represented provision, survival, and blessing.

But Jesus begins shifting the conversation from physical bread to spiritual bread.

    Because physical hunger always returns.

    No meal lasts forever.
    No achievement fully satisfies.
No relationship can carry the weight of your soul.

The tragedy wasn’t that the people were hungry.

The tragedy was that they were standing in front of the Bread of Life and still only wanted temporary bread.

And honestly? We do the same thing.

We chase temporary solutions for eternal needs.

Jesus Is More Than An Addition To Your Life

Jesus says something shocking in John 6:
You must eat His flesh and drink His blood.

It sounds strange at first—but Jesus was using bread as a picture of belief.

Bread only helps you if you actually eat it.

    You can admire it.
    Smell it.
    Look at it.

But eventually you have to receive it.

    The same is true spiritually.

Believing in Jesus is more than agreeing He exists. It’s receiving Him fully. Depending on Him. Trusting Him with your entire life.

    Faith isn’t casual observation.
    It’s surrender.

    The Hunger Beneath The Hunger

    Most people think they need:

    • A better circumstance

    • More money

    • A different relationship

    • More success

But beneath every earthly craving is a spiritual hunger only Jesus can satisfy.

    St. Augustine famously said:
“You have made us for Yourself, and our hearts are restless until they rest in You.”

    Jesus offers:

    1. Come to Me

    2. Believe in Me

    3. Abide in Me

    That’s the invitation.

    Not religion.
    Not performance.
    Not temporary fixes.

A relationship with the only One who can truly satisfy your soul.
