Our Residency Program is designed to develop this generation of leaders by combining hands-on ministry experience, intentional mentorship, and spiritual formation. Residents serve in real ministry environments while growing in leadership, character, and calling-equipped to help others find what matters by connecting them to Jesus and others.

Who is the residency for?

The Rock Residency is designed for aspiring church planters and ministry leaders who feel called to make disciples and help people find what matters.

We’re looking for individuals who demonstrate:

  • A calling from God

  • A heart to reach one more

  • A commitment to this generation

  • A teachable, coachable spirit

What is the format?

The Rock Residency is a leadership development experience focused on helping you live out our mission and lead others to do the same.

Residents will:

  • Be developed through character formation, leadership coaching, and biblical training

  • Learn and lead within The Rock’s Compass framework

    • North (Mission): Make disciples

    • East (Philosophy): People matter to Jesus

    • South (Strategy): Connect people to Jesus and others

    • West (Waypoints): Accept, Belong, Contribute, Disciple

  • Be paired with a Staff member for coaching and mentorship

  • Be given real ministry responsibility with clear expectations and support

  • Be evaluated through practical leadership competencies and spiritual health markers This isn’t classroom-only—it’s real ministry, real leadership, real growth.

How long is the program?

The Rock Residency program is flexible based on the type of residency.  General ministry residents are semester based or 9 months long.  Church planting residencies are one year in length. They are designed to develop both your calling and your capacity.

What is the compensation?

We have both volunteer residents and paid residents.  

  • Volunteer residents must serve at least 15 hours a week and be available on Sundays and at least every other Tuesday.

  • Paid residents must serve at least 20 hours a week and be available every Sunday and Tuesday.

Where does the residency take place?

Residents will be placed at one of The Rock’s campuses:

  • Conway

  • Aynor

  • South Strand

  • North Strand

Church planter residencies will be based out of our Campus Support office and work at all campuses throughout their residency.  Ministry based residencies will be placed based on a win-win approach, aligning your calling with the needs of the church and the leadership development environment that will best help you grow.

We’re looking for:

  • Agreement with our statement of beliefs and our staff code.

  • Proven faithfulness

  • Demonstrated leadership

  • Meaningful ministry experience (staff or high-level volunteer)

  • No. The goal of this residency is to develop the call God has put on your life to pursue church ministry. Our goal is to then help deploy you towards the path God may be leading you.

  • We want residents who are Humble, Hungry, and Honest!

    This means you have the humility to follow leadership and what God is calling, you are hungry and want to work hard, and you are honest with your faith walk!

  • We value our residents to the highest level! Through this residency, we desire residents s to find what matters by connecting them to Jesus and others. In turn, while that is received, there is the chance to help others find the same through their leadership positions.
