    Week 4: Westward – Waypoints

Focus: There are key waypoints that help us navigate our way back to God

    Main Text: Paul’s journey (Acts 9, 26; 2 Timothy 2 & 4; Romans 12)

    Waypoints: Accept, Belong, Contribute, Disciple

    CONNECT: Opening Discussion or Activity

    Opening Question:

    • What are some markers or landmarks that tell you you’re close to home or your destination (like a road sign, a store, or a building)?
Follow-up: What about in life—what milestones or waypoints stand out to you as turning points?

    Optional Activity – “Life Timeline”

    • Ask group members to draw or list 3–5 spiritual “waypoints” in their life—moments where they sensed growth, redirection, or commitment.

    • Share one or two with the group and reflect on how God used that moment.

DISCOVER: Exploring the Message and Scriptures

Walk through each of the four waypoints from Paul’s life and apply them to your group.

    1. ACCEPT – Jesus’ Love and Lordship

    Acts 9:1–19; Acts 26:14

    • Paul didn’t find Jesus—Jesus found Paul. Even in rebellion, Jesus was pursuing him.

    • Paul accepted Jesus as Lord and responded in baptism. It was a marker, a shift.

    Discussion:

    • Have you had a “Damascus Road” moment where God got your attention?

    • Why is baptism such a powerful act of acceptance?

    2. BELONG – To the Body of Christ

     Acts 9:26–28

    • After his conversion, Paul tried to join the church—but people were skeptical.

    • Barnabas spoke up for him. That moment helped Paul find community.

    Discussion:

    • Why is belonging to a group or community essential in your spiritual journey?

    • Who has been a “Barnabas” in your life? Who can you be that for?

    3. CONTRIBUTE – Live on Mission

    Romans 12:4–8; 2 Timothy 4:6–8

    • Paul lived as a contributor, not a consumer. He gave everything to God’s mission.

    • He used his gifts, his time, and even his hardship to advance the gospel.

    Discussion:

    • What are some ways you’re currently contributing to the mission of God?

    • Do you view your life as a mission field? Why or why not?

    4. DISCIPLE – Help Others Find What Matters

    2 Timothy 2:2

    • Paul discipled Timothy, Silas, Luke, Priscilla, Aquila, and many more.

    • Their waypoints became part of his legacy.

    Discussion:

    • Who are you pouring into right now?

    • Who in your life could benefit from your spiritual investment?

    RESPOND: Application & Challenge

    1. Personal Reflection:

    • Which of the four waypoints—Accept, Belong, Contribute, Disciple—do you most need to take or grow in?

    • What is a “next step” for you this week?

    2. Group Challenge:

    • Choose one group-based action to take this month (e.g., host a new group, start serving together, invite someone new, share your testimonies).

    • Consider having someone share their personal waypoint story next week.

    3. Prayer Focus:

    • Pray for clarity about your own next spiritual waypoint.

    • Ask God to bring someone into your life this week who needs a Barnabas, a disciple-maker, or a friend.
