Better + Brighter: BE A Wise Builder
Better + Brighter: week 13: BE A Wise Builder
Jesus ends the Sermon on the Mount with a powerful question: what are you building your life on? Storms are inevitable, but foundations determine outcomes. Wisdom isn’t hearing Jesus’ words—it’s living them. When we build on the rock, our lives can stand strong and shine brighter.

Week 13 - Be A Wise Builder
Matthew 7:24–27
Every life is being built on something.
In His closing words of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus gives a simple but profound picture: two builders, two foundations, one storm. Both hear His words. Both build houses. Both face storms. The difference isn’t knowledge—it’s obedience.
The foolish builder takes shortcuts. He builds on sand because it’s faster and easier. But when storms come—and they always do—the foundation fails. Shortcuts may feel smart in the moment, but they rarely stand the test of time.
The wise builder digs deeper. Building on rock takes effort, patience, and intentionality. It’s formed through daily obedience—choosing truth over convenience, faith over feelings, and surrender over shortcuts.
Jesus makes it clear that storms are not optional. Loss, pain, uncertainty, and hardship will come. The question is not if storms will hit, but whether we’ll stand when they do.
And there’s an even bigger storm in view—the reality of standing before God. In that moment, foundations matter more than appearances.
Here’s the grace-filled truth: building on Jesus doesn’t make life easier, but it makes life steadier. When everything shakes, what’s built on Him remains.
If you want your life to be better and brighter, build on the rock. Hear His words. Live them out. And trust that what you build on Him will last forever.
