Small Group Curriculum: "Believe...Lame Man"
Connect
Begin with a light-hearted story or personal experience about a time you felt "stuck" in a situation, similar to the tire blowout story mentioned in the sermon.
-Ask group members to share a brief story or moment in their lives when they felt stuck or were waiting for something to change. How did they feel during that time?

God Sees Our Circumstances (John 5:1-7)
Read John 5:1-7 together.
Discussion Questions:
- How does it make you feel to know that Jesus singled out the lame man among the multitude?
- Why do you think Jesus asked the man if he wanted to get well? How does this question apply to our own lives when we feel stuck?
- Reflect on Psalm 139:1-3. How does this passage reinforce the idea that God knows our situations intimately?
God's Faithfulness and Healing (John 5:8-9):
Read John 5:8-9 together.
Discussion Questions:
- What stands out to you about the way Jesus healed the lame man?
- How have you experienced God's faithfulness in your own life? Can you share a specific instance where you saw His hand at work?
- Discuss the quote by Charles Spurgeon: “It was not the mere sound of the words that made him rise, but it was the divine power which went with it.” How does this apply to the power of Jesus' words in our lives today?
The Power of Jesus' Words:
- Reflect on the examples given in the sermon (Lazarus, the paralyzed man, Zacchaeus, the disciples in the storm).

- How can Jesus' words bring peace, purpose, and movement in your current situation?
- How does fear make us forgetful of God's past faithfulness, and how can we combat this forgetfulness?Respond: Practical Steps
1. Reflect on God's Presence:
- Spend a few moments in silent prayer, inviting God to reveal His presence in the areas of your life where you feel stuck or overwhelmed.
2. Trace God's Faithfulness:
- Take time this week to journal about past instances where you have seen God's faithfulness in your life. Share one of these instances with a friend or family member to encourage them.
3. Pray for Each Other:
- Close the session by praying for one another, specifically asking God to bring healing, purpose, and peace into each person's life. Encourage group members to continue praying for each other throughout the week.
By focusing on these elements, the small group can deepen their understanding of the sermon and apply its truths to their lives, experiencing the transformative power of Jesus' presence and words. -
